Medications Are Key For Weight Management

blank

Dr. Suzy Lessing talks about the importance of using medication to help with weight management but how she always personalizes and minimizes medication for patients in general.

Dr. Suzy Lessing shares

Most of my patients know that I really love to stop medications.

I have a less is more attitude towards medications and I love cleaning up a medication list and eliminating things that are not necessary.

That said as an internal medicine doctor I feel that medication is also critically important to keeping certain health conditions under control and improving health.

So for example diabetes high blood pressure asthma medications are really important in controlling these diseases and reducing the risk for poor health outcomes down the road the disease of obesity is just like that medication is critical in treating this and helping with weight management and reducing the risk for other problems down the road like cardiovascular disease and a number of different kinds of cancers.

I use medication to treat obesity but just like with when I treat asthma I don’t have all of my patients on the same exact medication they don’t all get the same inhaler prescription from me.

I take a personalized approach.

Everybody is different and a different medication might be right for one person whereas something like an injectable you’ve heard about might be right for other people but it’s important to really do my due diligence and know what’s right for each patient.

Is it OK if we talk about your weight?

Many patients in the traditional healthcare system feel frustrated and unheard when a doctor simply tells them to “eat less, move more” to address health issues like high blood pressure and sleep apnea.

Dr. Lessing discusses why it is so important to find a doctor who listens and treats overweight and obesity with sensitivity and empathy.

Obesity Treatment With Semaglutide?!?

Struggling to lose weight?

Obesity is a chronic & complex disease that requires a multifaceted approach.

It’s not always as simple as just eating less and moving more. For some people hormone issues can make weight management a bigger problem.

Semaglutide, a medication that increases GLP-1 hormone levels, is a promising treatment option for addressing the hormone imbalances involved in obesity.

In this video, Dr. Suzy Lessing educates that using Semaglutide to treat obesity is not only safe but effective. This medicine helps treat a hormone problem related to obesity in a similar way that hypothyroidism and menopausal symptoms are treated with hormone therapy.

When do you need antibiotics?

As a healthcare provider, Dr. Lessing has been receiving lots of texts and emails from patients lately, asking if they need antibiotics for their illness. While antibiotics can be a helpful tool for treating bacterial infections, they’re not always necessary.

Dr. Suzy Lessing shares valuable healthcare tips on certain situations when antibiotics should be used such as strep throat, pneumonia, and bacterial sinus infections.

Tylenol? Ibuprofen? Both?

Tylenol & Ibuprofen

It’s not uncommon for patients to wonder whether they should take ibuprofen or Tylenol when they’re feeling unwell. If you’re a generally healthy adult without liver disease, kidney disease, stomach ulcers, or other chronic diseases, you can take both ibuprofen and Tylenol at the same time.

Dr. Suzy Lessing educates on when to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen when not feeling well.
