The New Year is here and you are probably thinking you should stick with your New Year’s resolution of losing some weight. Here are a few things to remember with weight loss and dieting….there is no quick weight loss!
- Diet: Moderation and Variety. Don’t fall into the Fad diet trends of eliminating certain food groups. Just remember to think of all the colors of the rainbow when putting your plate together. Having a variety of colors (carrots, spinach, eggplant, corn) can ensure you are getting the proper nutrients in your diet. Just make sure you don’t go overboard with one item….moderation is key.
- Exercise: Hate going to the gym? Not a huge fan of running outside? No problem, just incorporate activity into your life. Take the stairs at work. Park at the rear of the grocery store or mall. Take the dog for a walk yourself instead of a chore just for the kids. Get out there and do fun activities like soccer or volleyball. You get the benefits of working out without the boredom of the gym. Have an exercise partner so you can hold each other accountable for those lazy days.
Weight loss and maintenance is no easy task. It’s a lifelong commitment to yourself for staying healthy!
