Safety Tips For The Summer!

Planes, trains, automobiles and watercrafts each offer a unique mode of transportation. Whether for work or pleasure, you may need to use one of these methods of travel this summer.

Planes can be exciting and a quick way to get to a destination. However, some people may suffer from fear of flying or have a social phobia being around so many other travelers. Planning out your trip to minimize layovers and implementing relaxation techniques can help you get past those phobias.

Trains are not readily used in Texas but for people living in large cities such as New York City and Chicago, it’s their primary means of transport. Being mindful of your surroundings is a must. Read signs carefully to know which areas are safe to wait for the train and always watch your step when making transitions. A simple missed step can literally throw you into dangerous places where you don’t want to be.

Automobiles are the main means of transportation in Texas and one of the most deadly. Motor vehicle accidents continue to increase despite improvements to roads and use of traffic lights. Everyone always seems to be in a hurry or are trying to multi-task during their commute. Nothing is more important than safety and we need to remember that a few minutes late to an event or a delayed response to a text does not compare to our own welfare and the lives of others on the road.

Watercrafts are heavily used in the summer months and water safety can never be mentioned enough. Every year we have numerous unnecessary, preventable deaths due to water activities. Always watch your kids and make sure they are wearing a life jacket at all times when they are near water. Use common sense, don’t drink excessively while on the water and never assume that another boat knows what to do.

Be safe this summer and watch out for each other!
