She is absolutely the best doctor I’ve ever had.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Suzy Lessing’s for about a year. She is absolutely the best doctor I’ve ever had. She takes time to listen to my needs and collaborate on my treatment. I have lost 55 pounds with the help of medication and Dr. Lessing. She doesn’t hold archaic beliefs about weight loss that society and many people in the medical field still subscribe to, which has led to my success in weight loss and maintaining a healthier, happier lifestyle. She is conscientious, caring and knowledgeable. I would recommend her to anyone!

Why is medication important for weight loss?
Very few people with the disease of pre-obesity and obesity are successful at maintaining weight loss with diet and exercise alone. Dr Lessing likes to say,
“If you could have done this on your own, you would have done it by now; you are no stranger to doing hard things!”
This is because our evolutionary drive to gain weight is so strong – and is much stronger than the drive to lose weight.
It is absolutely possible to lose weight with restrictive dieting – the problem is keeping the weight off. Medication is helpful to treat the complex behavioral, genetic, and biological/hormonal processes that cause weight gain.
For many people, it takes more than a “weight loss” or “healthy” mindset to maintain a healthy weight. Dr. Lessing treats the disease of obesity the same way I treat asthma, diabetes, allergies, and heart disease: using evidence-based medicine.

The first office visit takes about 1 hour; at this visit Dr Lessing learns about your health history and takes a detailed weight history
The second office visit will also take about 1 hour; at this visit Dr Lessing will perform a physical exam as well as take vital signs and waist and neck circumference measurements. Usually by the end of the second visit the patient has a nutrition and exercise plan in place.
At the third visit, Dr Lessing will discuss medication options.
The initial timing of the visits can be weekly or less frequent if needed
