Why DPC is different
With Direct primary care (DPC), the primary care doctor is paid an affordable monthly fee that covers a broad set of primary care services, about 90% of everything needed for the patient’s health. The doctor does not send bills to the patient’s insurance for their services. These already-paid-for-services include any visits with the doctor, telehealth visits, basic labs, in-office procedures (such as biopsies, pap smears, stitches, etc.), phone calls, and much more. By keeping insurance companies out of primary care:
- DPC gives doctors and patients more time together to develop relationships, to dig into the root cause of disease, and to discuss how to stay healthy.
- DPC gives primary care doctors the time to practice the wide variety of medicine they were trained to do.
- DPC takes away many of the limitations placed by insurance companies on cutting edge changes like telehealth. Much of what I can do as a doctor can safely be done remotely.
DPC allows me to be the kind of comprehensive and caring doctor I want to be. The kind I would want for myself and my family.
I chose to join DirectMed DPC because, from my first conversation with practice-founders Dr. Katriny Ikbal and Neer Patel, it was clear to me that they shared this mission, this drive to change primary care for the greater good. Authenticity is one of the foundational principles of my personal life, my marriage, my faith, and my professional life. Katriny’s and Neer’s vision for DirectMed DPC is authentic. It is the real deal. I am excited to be part of this mission-driven team and will begin seeing patients in New Braunfels in September 2022.
